![]() Ok, there are some parts of the UI which are not adjustable and there really is no good reason for blocking the adjustment of these. I'll bet as time goes by we will see many things happen to this game, and some of what is discussed here will probably be implemented. But it is also important to remember that LotRO is still new, isn't running with the most powerful engine, and has plenty of room for growth and change. I'm sure there are other games like EQ2 this just happens to be the one I am familiar with. So for all those who are of the opinion that mod developers are spawned by demons, and are intent on ruining gameplay for the "pure" players, this is just one example of how things can be done well when the game developer and mod community work together for the betterment of the overall experience. Mods have been created that greatly enhance the game, do not provide any "advantage" to those who use them, don't interfere with the game servers in any way, and meet all the requirements SOE has put in place. And, by the way, not only does it have a great UI, SOE has encouraged the mod community to innovate, while maintaining a strict enforcement of its user agreement and code of conduct, and the results have been outstanding. I can't speak for the others you mentioned, but EQ2 is one I certainly have to agree with you on. But hey, if you see things differently we can always agree to disagree! That's what makes forums like this a great place to meet. That level of player involvement in an online game has not been seen since, and I believe that is the reason you don't see kinships here in LotRO that have the activities we used to have in those early days of AC. Once the volunteers were removed from those positions the "community" aspect of the game began to fall apart, which ultimately led to the decline you see today. The real decline of that game, in my opinion, came about with the corporate decision to eliminate the Advocates. The one thing that AC had going for it early on was a vibrant and active community, fostered by a great story line. I think well written mods can enhance, but the best thing is to have the features included in the core code. Anyone can read my posts and tell that I am really neither for or against mods, but I surely wouldn't like to see LotRO go that direction. I know of more than one person who started their bots before work and let things run unattended. Yemon, it sounds like you were around for the early stages of AC, as I was, so you are aware of the way things developed. The development of Decal, which actually intercepted the data stream as a main component of its functionality, allowed for the development of mods that would truly play the game without human intervention. I still have to lean more with Keassi's comments.
